Middle School Science Olympiad

Session: Winter session beginning November 18, 2024. End date will be in March. Specific dates coming soon! (no classes November 27 & December 25, 2024 or January 1, 2025)Students must be able to participate in the February 3, 2024 regional competition from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM and the State competition on March 2, 2024, 2024 at Bethel University. 

Description: Join our team as we prepare to compete in the Minnesota Science Olympiad Middle School Competition. The Science Olympiad will have 23 science and engineering events including some that test students' knowledge of fossils, rocks, forestry, weather, and astronomy or their skill with ciphers by decrypting a message, ability to communicate how to build something technical, or building a tower, roller coaster, plane, or wheeled vehicle. There's something for everyone! During our Thursday meetings, we will plan which teammates will compete in which of the 23 events, connect students with resources to prepare for their events, and help foster a love of science! Coaches will help students prepare for the competition but family support is also strongly encouraged throughout and required on the competition day. All parents must stay with the team on the competition date February 1, 2025 at Mounds View High School. There is a Regional event as well for States at Bethel University March 1, 2025.  Check out the club website here. Advisors: Ms Gabor and Ms. Nee.
