Description: "Dungeons and Dragons Club will teach you the game, teach you how to play nice, and give you the space to play it, whether you’ve never played before or you’ve already hosted your own game. Everything that you need to play will be provided, and characters will be created step by step together; the only things that you need to plan ahead for are your own transportation and snacks (as neither of those are provided). If you already have your own resources, you are welcome to bring them (handbooks, dice, any devices needed to access digital tools, etc.), though you are responsible for their use, misuse, and care.
The club will be organized into six groups of four (or rarely five), which will elect their own DM. Each group will borrow a Player’s Handbook, and each DM will borrow a Monster Manual (both kept in the classroom cupboards). All participants will be given a set of dice to keep. While groups may choose to follow a pre written campaign or write their own, all stories must stay reasonably school appropriate (think PG-13).
The typical club meeting will begin with a video tutorial, progress with a short lesson or student TED Talk, and conclude with game time. The amount of game time will increase as everyone becomes more familiar with the rules and expectations of D&D. Players will begin at 1st level and level up together every two weeks. Each player will also be assigned a job to help their group: either 1) note taker, 2) track keeper, or 3) rule finder.
More details will be given at the first meeting, but if you need to ask a question before that time, you can stop by my classroom after school (room 324). I look forward to getting you all started!" Advisor: Mr. Hinkle
