Parent Volunteers
Parents are needed for selling tickets and working in the concessions stand at high school home sports events. In order to fairly disperse this workload, parents who have a student participating on a high school team are required to work 1 shift (fall/spring) or 2 shifts (winter) during each season that their child is in a sport. If you are unable to volunteer, there is an opt-out option for a fee of $100 per family per season. You will choose to volunteer or opt-out on the online registration form.
Baseline Concussion Test
A baseline concussion test (ImPACT test) is a simple, cognitive computer test that is used to establish a person's baseline or normal brain function. The test measures verbal and visual memory, processing speed, and reaction time. In the event of a concussion, the test is repeated, the results are compared, and appropriate care plans are developed by a physician or the athletic trainer for your student's safe return to sports. Athletes who participate in a contact or limited contact sport are required to complete a baseline concussion test every two years. Football is a contact sport per MSHSL classification. Testing will be done during practices and conducted by the SCLA athletic trainer.
